HISTORY and MISSION

Having received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kent State University, Mike spent years learning about circuit boards, microprocessors, and communications technology. When he began his professional career at Controlled Power Corporation in 1987, very little use was made of personal computers in the corporate world. But when his superiors informed him that a local area network (LAN) was slated to be installed and a computer placed on every engineer’s desk, Mike was dubbed the official Network Administrator for this new system. The company that won the bid to implement this new network was Amos Data Systems, a company at which Mike would later work for 21 years.

During his tenure at Amos Data Systems, Mike cut his teeth on building and installing Novell based systems and earned his Novell Certified Network Engineer (CNE) certification. He designed, implemented, and supported the Novell offerings that ran on the NetWare operating systems such as GroupWise, ZenWorks, IdentityManager, BorderManager, and more. With the decline of Novell, it became necessary to begin offering up-and-coming solutions from Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, and more. Mike quickly attained various certifications, such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Network Associate (CNA), and many other certifications. Soon, the growth of systems utilizing Microsoft soon overshadowed the Novell client base. Mike spent many years migrating clients from the questionable future of Novell to the now well-established Windows networking platform.

Amos Data began to standardize on the Windows platform as well as regularly employing the growing software (Symantec, Citrix, StorageCraft, Computer Associates, MacAfee, TrendMicro, etc.) and hardware technologies (Cisco, Hewlett Packard, Dell, and Barracuda) that supported business class networks. It is in these core manufacturers, developers, and products that Mike is most familiar, although he is able to work with any product.

What had been missing was the adoption of the Managed Services Provider (MSP) business model. When Mike left Amos Data Systems in 2012, it was clear that he needed to start NMJ Technology LLC with a firm foothold in the MSP model. Mike quickly developed partnerships with the leading names in IT solutions built around the MSP model to ensure that all customers were given the best tools to design, deploy, protect, manage and support their network infrastructures and endpoints in the face of the ever-changing threat of hackers and scammers home and abroad.

More recently, Mike has deployed and migrated thousands of users from “On-Premises” network infrastructure to “Full Cloud” or “Hybrid Cloud” implementations, primarily in the Microsoft 365 tenancy.
